American Agri-Women works in areas of legislation, regulations, consumer relations, promotion, and education. We are consumers as well as producers and have a unique point of view to offer.
Welcome! The Water Resource Page was created to better inform AAW members on a variety of water issues. All AAW members are invited to submit information on water issues to the Water Resource Chair. In order to better serve AAW, it is important to establish a network across the membership.
H.R. 2421/S.1870, the Clean Water Restoration Act of 2007, would expand jurisdiction of the federal Clean Water Act to all intrastate waters, including groundwater, ditches, culverts, pipes, desert washes, sheet flow, erosional features, farm and stock ponds. The law previously only applied jurisdiction to all “navigable” waters, but the followup act would remove that word, establishing EPA and Army Corps of Engineers over all water. AAW members can learn more about H.R. 2421/S.1870 and the Action Alert on the organization’s website: http://www.americanagriwomen.org/action-alerts
Committee Hearings were held on H.R. 2421 on April 16 and S.1870 on April 9. AAW members can view the webcast and read testimony on the proposed legislation by click on the following links.
The first issue of the AAW Water Resource News was released in March. The newsletter features information on water quantity and water quality issues across the nation. All information is gathered from media outlets or information submitted to the AAW Water Resources.
