AAW Policy Bites: Water Rights & Resource Management

Water is one of agriculture’s most valuable resources. AAW supports policies that protect farmers' access to water while ensuring responsible conservation practices that sustain future agricultural productivity.

Our Position: AAW believes agriculture should always be considered the highest and best use when determining water allocation. We oppose federal overreach that limits farmers’ ability to manage their own water resources.

Why It Matters: A secure water supply is critical to food production and rural economies. Restrictive regulations that fail to account for agricultural needs threaten the viability of farms and ranches across the country.
