Summer President's Message

July 2024

The hot days of summer are now upon us. Here in California, we have been dealing with 100-degree weather while dodging wildfires. No matter the weather conditions, farmers and ranchers all over the country are still out there growing the food to feed our nation. Here are a few updates since our last Voice.

Our first-ever expanded Fly-In was a success! For the first time, we opened the Fly-In to all women involved in the agricultural and natural resource industries! We had 30 women from around the nation join us in Washington, DC, from June 2nd through the 5th. Thank you to Jacquie Compston, Debbie Bacigalupi, and Jenny Hitner from the RTI group for coming up with the idea to expand the fly-in and for their help planning the Sunday event, as well as Deb Whalen for helping with check-in. Thank you to Heather Hampton+Knodle and the Past President's Counsel for planning the symposium. Thank you to First Vice President Kim Bremmer and Vital Issues Chair, Marie Bowers, for their help planning fly-in.

Leadership Training Opportunity.

Syngenta's “Leadership at its Best” will be held from Monday, February 3rd, to Friday, February 7th, 2025. This is an all-expenses-paid opportunity. Please get in touch with me as soon as possible if you are interested.

Join us for our July “Lunch with AAW” on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024, at 11 PST, noon MST, 1 CST, and 2 EST. Our April “Lunch with AAW” webinar will feature Melissa Halpin from Hertz Farm Management. We will discuss solar leases on farmland. This webinar will equip landowners with the knowledge and tools to navigate and manage solar lease agreements effectively.

Final Words. This weekend, there was an attempted assassination of a presidential candidate. Political violence is never the answer. For 50 years, American Agri-Women has aggressively commented on, pushed back on, and has been very vocal in our opposition to bad agricultural policies. We have been a unified, reasoned, non-partisan force for truth.

At American Agri-Women, we take pride in conducting ourselves with strength and professionalism. We will continue to demonstrate that disagreements on policy can and should be handled with Grit, Grace, and Gratitude.

How will you help foster respectful discourse with your Grit, Grace, & Gratitude?

I look forward to seeing you all at our 2024 convention and 50th anniversary, which will be held November 14th -17th in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Rose Tryon
